Vendor Review: Washington City Aquatic Center

St. George, Utah is a beautiful place to visit year round, and there’s always something exciting to do there. However, when the hottest days of summer hit most people in town head for the nearest place where they can relax and take a break from the heat. Visiting the lakes and outdoor pools in the St. George area is an option, but there’s another way to play in the water while staying in the shade: the Washington City Aquatic Center.

Located in the Washington City Community Center, this big indoor pool and splash area is a popular summer destination for families and visitors of all ages. It has an 8 lane, 25 yard lap pool suitable for competitive swimming practice and those who want to get in some healthy exercise. The leisure pool is the largest attraction at the Aquatic Center, and this 10,174 square foot area has its own lazy river and a beach style entry. There are plenty of shallow areas and a splash pad for toddlers and young children to safely explore and play, and its vibrant water play sets bring the fun of a playground to the indoor pool.

For older children and adults looking for more thrills, the pool also has a three story hydro tube slide. And no matter what age you are, the Aquatic Center’s huge dump bucket will provide a fun way to stay cool — the 317 gallon suspended bucket periodically fills with water and then tips over onto waiting swimmers below.

In addition to the play areas, you can also take swimming lessons at the Aquatic Center or participate in the various programs available such as Preschool Swim Time, Water Polo, and Lifeguard Training. The price for each program varies, and some are included with the pool entrance fee. If you want to relax by the water without worrying about looking after your young children, the Community Center offers daycare for two hours at a rate of $2 per child, which is super affordable and a great deal. Admission into the Aquatics Center is $5 per person, and you’ll gain access to the entire Community Center and its sports courts, indoor track, rock wall, fitness area, and workout equipment. If you visit Monday through Thursday after 7pm, you’ll receive a $2 discount per person. After you’ve had fun swimming and playing, head to Mama Knows Pizza at the concessions area for a tasty way to refuel.

The best thing about visiting the Aquatics Center is how affordable it is and the quality of the facility. There are many water parks that cost a ton more, but this indoor pool and play area provide hours of fun for a very reasonable price. To entertain the kids or yourself this summer, take a trip to the Washington City Aquatics Center.
