Two Pines Arch Hike

One of the most visited sites in the St. George area is Zion National Park. It’s a true haven for outdoor lovers and contains majestic formations and beautiful scenery. There are few natural settings with this many things to see and do. Zion National Park also provides visitors a look at how time and nature has shaped the area, and one great example of this is Two Pines Arch and Progeny Peak. If you want to get an incredible look at the land around Zion National Park while getting some fresh air and exercise, you’ll be hard pressed to find a better trail to hike.

The trail that leads to Two Pines Arch is suitable for hikers of all experience levels as there are different lengths you can take. Advanced adventurers who want to trek all the way to the summit of Progeny Peak should be well prepared to do some slickrock scrambling. The distance from the trailhead to Progeny Peak’s summit is 1.6 miles, and going to Two Pines Arch and back is 0.8 miles. Wear shoes with a good grip and rubber sole, bring some water, take along a few snacks for energy, and you’ll be good to go. If you’re planning to reach the top of Progeny Peak, be sure you’re prepared to take on the steep slope. I suggest planning your route beforehand — it’s not uncommon for people to get disoriented while going to the summit.

In all, it should take about three hours to hike to the top of Progeny Peak and back. If you’re not going all the way to the top, your hike will be a bit shorter and less challenging. It’s a good idea for beginning hikers and those who are unfamiliar with the area to either go to the peak with a guide or stop short of going to the top. No permits are required to go to Two Pines Arch, and you can reach the trail year round via Zion-Mount Carmel Highway. To have an unforgettable day outdoors and experience the wonders of Zion National Park like never before, spend the day hiking Two Pines Arch and Progeny Peak.
