A scenic drive is essentially a self guided tour. During Zion National Park’s off-season, guests are permitted to drive their own cars through the canyon. The route for Zion’s scenic drive through Zion Canyon is 6.5 miles long. Among the majestic views are the 2,000 foot red rock towers and the Virgin River. Those who enjoy birding will enjoy seeing the many species that call Zion National Park home. You can also take wonderful photos and have an experience of a lifetime, all while touring the area by car. If you’d like a longer tour, you can take the scenic byway at the intersection of Highway 9 and Interstate 15 that runs about 54 miles. This route includes Zion National Park as well as several other parks and historic sites – all Utah state gems.
Scenic drives through Zion National Park are affordable, and you only need to pay one fee to drive through. If you choose to take the scenic byway and are planning to drive an RV or large vehicle, a nominal escort fee is charged to go through the Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel.
