Restaurant Review: D.U.B.’s

Of the huge variety of restaurants available in St. George, few would expect a barbecue joint to stand out among the pack. However, there is a spot in Utah’s Dixie where you can get mouthwatering barbecue that can hold its own against any made elsewhere: D.U.B.’s. If you’re a fan of barbecue, you’ll definitely want to check it out.

The pride that D.U.B.’s takes in the food that they serve and the hospitality they dish out will be apparent from the moment you step inside. The family owned restaurant has made a name for itself in the area in part because of its friendly service, which makes eating there even more of a pleasure. The decor inside in unassuming and rustic, but the menu will put to rest any doubts that the food served at D.U.B.’s is the real deal.

Entrees come in a range of sizes, so whether you’re just a bit hungry or have really worked up an appetite you’ll find something to suit you. Baby back and spare ribs, fried catfish, brisket, pulled pork, barbecued hotlinks and chicken, and rib tips are just some of the entree options. The sides available include southern style classics such as macaroni and cheese, potato salad, cole slaw, collard greens, and hush puppies. D.U.B.’s Cajun Fries are a treat that’s ideal for snacking and perfectly complements all of the entrees on the menu.

For those who want lighter meals, D.U.B.’s has a selection of salads that can be served without meat such as pulled pork or chicken. The chicken wings served there are excellent, as are the beer battered shrimp and sandwiches. The Southern Fried Catfish sandwich is delicious for lunch, but if you want a seriously hearty meal go for “The Carnivore” – a foot-long roll stuffed with your choice of barbecued meat and accompanied by a filling side.

One of the best things about D.U.B.’s is the great value they provide. The portions are quite generous, each item is packed with flavor, and the prices are very reasonable. Each item on the kids menu is less than $5, and adults can easily fill up for less than $15. For awesome barbecue and southern style fare at an affordable price, be sure to visit D.U.B.’s the next time you’re in St. George.
