Growing up I never had a problem finishing what was on my plate. I may be what some consider a “foodie”. My love for food started when I lived in Arlington, Virginia right across the Potomac River from Washington DC. Living in that area I developed a love for local dining. I love trying new places and new entrees wherever I am living or traveling. Below are some of the best places in the St. George Area to eat. I am not going to include any franchises or big name restaurants. These are all places that have passed my very strict “foodie” criteria. Oscars Cafe – Entree: Murder Burger I am going to go ahead and say it…. BEST HAMBURGER EVER! That is a major compliment coming from a “foodie” like myself. The Murder Burger is to die for. The burger had fresh chopped garlic mixed into the meat. Weighing in at 1/2 lbs this is a hearty meal. If you like BBQ sauce and fresh toppings you will love this burger. Oscars also has incredible Mexican food. I have not tried their ribs yet but they look incredible.
Located just outside of the Zion National Park entrance it makes for a great meal after a long hike. Oscars Cafe has become a family tradition when we visit Zion. Irmita’s Mexican Food – Entree: Tacos Can you saw authentic? Irmitas won a Best In State Award for most authentic Mexican food. This is one of my favorite places to come when I am staying at Coral Springs. I always get their tacos. On one trip as the picture above depicts, my buddy Greg participated in Irmitas food challenge. The food challenge consisted of one of their enormous sandwiches called a Torta. It was bigger than his plate and used a loaf of bread as a bun. He managed to finish the challenge with time to spare. They gave him gift certificates for free food and we had a blast watching him take on the challenge. So much fun definitely a place to try when visiting the St. George Area. Check out their website for directions and specials. St. Helen’s Cafe – Entree: Omelets If you are a fan of breakfast or brunch you will love St. Helen’s Cafe. This is were the locals all go for breakfast, lunch and dinner. It was also nice that it is only a few minutes the Coral Springs Resort. I ordered “the works” omelet. It was incredible, it came with spinach, onions, meat, cheese and more. I was in omelet heaven. The waitresses are very nice and the food comes out quickly. Check out their menu and see why the locals keep coming back. Paula’s Cazuela – Entree: Fajitas
Paula’s Cazuela is not only an excellent place to eat, but provides your party with an excellent view of the city. Perched on the hillside overlooking Dixie Rock and the Temple you will have an excellent view as you enjoy your entree. I was impressed with the fajitas entree I ordered. Being a foodie I did try some of the other entrees in my group. The enchiladas were an excellent option as well. Paula’s is a great place for authentic Mexican food at a great price. Check out their menu. I will post more fun dining options as I discover them.
